WHO IS SAM?
Crown Point isn't just a place on a map for Sam Kozaitis—it is the foundation of his life. As a lifelong resident of Crown Point, Sam has deep roots in the community and a personal commitment to protecting its future. Sam and his wife, Michelle, have been happily married for 30 years and have built their life in Crown Point, raising two children who are proud Crown Point graduates.
Sam's mother was a dedicated public servant for almost 35 years as a Crown Point School Corporation bus driver. His father worked as a union bricklayer at U.S. Steel before building the family home (built 1968) where Sam still lives today. Years later, Sam added an addition to that home so he could lovingly care for his parents in their final years. Before launching his own successful business, Sam learned the value of hard work firsthand while working for a roofing company and later worked for Nason Appliance for almost 20 years as a warehouse manager and in charge of deliveries. Those experiences shaped his common-sense approach to leadership, fiscal responsibility, and accountability. Sam understands the effort it takes to earn a paycheck and believes taxpayers deserve leaders who respect every dollar. Today, as a husband, father, business owner, and lifelong resident, Sam is running for City Council to ensure District 1 remains a safe, financially responsible, and family-friendly community. He is committed to bringing integrity, transparency, and the same strong work ethic that has guided him throughout his life to City Hall.

Sam speaks at city council meeting about the 113th Avenue Road project
At a Crown Point City Council meeting, Sam Kozaitis spoke during public comment to raise concerns about the qualifications of certain city employees and the importance of accountability in local government. During his remarks, Mayor Pete Land reminded Sam that the public comment portion of the meeting was “not a Q&A” and later stated that Sam would not get any council members to agree with him. The exchange highlighted the tension between residents seeking answers from their elected officials and the council’s established procedures for public comment.

Crown Point Residents Deserve Answers
At the City Council meeting, I asked our police and fire chiefs if Crown Point is truly prepared for another 190 homes. Their response confirmed they're still trying to catch up with existing growth and will need new stations to keep up.
I believe enough is enough. Residents are tired of worsening traffic, nonstop development, and City Hall putting developers ahead of the people who live here.
With Crown Point already carrying $169 million in debt—and more costs still to come—it's time to put residents first and focus on responsible growth.

Sam speaks at city council meeting regarding property swap with Crown Point School Corp
Sam address the council regarding the testimony of the Crown Point Community School Corporation attorney that filed with the IURC requesting City water and sewer service for a 52-acre parcel. Sam concern is that the property had already been sold before that testimony was filed. If the school corporation no longer owned the land, why was it taking a position in the IURC case? I believe the public deserves an explanation.

Sam Calls for a Forensic Audit of City Finances
I spoke to the City Council about Crown Point's growing debt after reviewing State Board of Accounts and Gateway records. I pointed out the city's reported debt had exceeded $102 million, with additional sewer and infrastructure bonds potentially pushing it much higher. I questioned where the money has gone, noted that many visible projects were funded by grants and donations, and called for an independent forensic audit to provide transparency and accountability for taxpayers.
